Opening Statement

Hello iACToR members,

On behalf of the iACToR Managing Board, it is my pleasure to bring to you two very important announcements regarding the International Association of CyberPsychology, Training, & Rehabilitation:
  1. The official location and date has been set for the 2nd Annual iACToR General Assembly. The President’s Hotel in Seoul, Korea on June 14th, 2010 from 17:30 – 18:30 is where iACToR Premium Member’s will gather to review relationships with other associations, conferences, and publications; welcome newly elected officials into office; and evaluate conclusions drawn from the past association year. The General Assembly is free of charge to iACToR Premium Members and they should RSVP to Mr. James Cullen at jcullen@vrphobia.com.
  2. The nomination process for vacant iACToR Managing Board Officer Positions will close on Friday, April 30th, 2010. Thus, voting on nominated members will begin May 1st, 2010 and close June 1st, 2010. All iACToR Premium Members are given the right to vote on nominated colleagues to fill the vacant positions. The results will be revealed at the iACToR General Assembly on June 14th, 2010.

Around Thirty People Treat their Phobia of Spiders with Virtual Reality
Castellón, Spain April 25, 2010 - Some thirty people have been subjected to the treatment of phobia of spiders and roaches through virtual reality developed by the University Jaume I of Castellón, which allows more control over anxiety than using actual insects in the therapy and whose effectiveness is believed to be similar. According to the EFE reported by Juani Breton, a psychologist at the Psychology and Technology Laboratory of the University of Castellón, the therapy is uses an application to treat based on new technologies, specifically augmented reality techniques, which involve the addition of virtual elements in the real world.   5. Update Your Profile and Comment on Others! Keep members up to date with your latest information. Post a blog, update your status, add a picture of yourself, and let the community know your area of expertise. All can be done with in your Profile page and we encourage you to do so!
