SUMMARY:Mut@nt children?
DESCRIPTION:Thinking, knowing, informing, memorising,\nlearning, teach
ing, moving, being…\nThe ongoing digital revolution is creating\nMan
kind 2.0 at a staggering pace. How can we\nanalyse its changing and ev
olving trajectories in\nreal time?\n\nChildren are at the forefront of
  this\ntransformation, and provide for startling\nobservations: 3-year
old Alex won’t fall asleep\nwithout his tablet computer; 9-year old
Leo won’t\ndo any school exercise that is not computer based;\nat t
he age of 13, Adele already suffers from thumb\ntendinitis because of
her many tweets and chats\nto her hundreds of “friends”. Max, 16,
won’t leave\nthe virtual – yet very real – world of online games
.\nWhat are we learning from these first digital\nnative generations?
Is there a cognitive and\nbehavioural mutation of children? An intelle
 ctual\nand affective transformation? An exceptional\nepistemological e
volution of mankind?\nQuestioning the development of little\nhumans in
the now globalised TV and digital\nuniverse, their new thinking patte
rns, their brain\ndevelopment and functioning, and the potential\ndiff
erences with previous generations brains, is\nbecoming an urgent neces
sity: in which society\nwill they live? What psychological, educationa
l\nand ethical challenges and needs will we have to\naddress tomorrow?
\n\nWith no defiance nor excitement towards\ninnovation, without pessi
mism or panicmongering,\nthis 3-day symposium will give the\nparticipa
nts the opportunity to stand still the time\nof an evaluation, to thin
k the unthinkable, to\nobserve the reckless pace of our evolution, to\
nanalyse with a pragmatic yet curious eye the\nconsequences for today
 s and tomorrow’s\nchildren, de-facto positioned in a phylogenetic
 and\ndynamic perspective.\nPsychologists, philosophers, epistemologist
s,\nhistorians and sociologists will present\nthe current base of know
ledge and the scientific\nand intellectual analytical frame \nframewo
rk, and will\nshare with lawmakers, doctors, economists,\npoliticians
and social actors the amazing human\nvariations, to clearly identify t
he contemporary\nchallenges that defy our children, or should we\nsay
 mut@nts.\n\n\n\n\nFor more information visit https://iactor.ning.com/e
